Are Shimano Electric Bike Motors Good?

Are Shimano Electric Bike Motors Good?

History of Shimano E-Bike Motors

Shimano celebrated its 100th year in business in 2021. It started with one man’s dream a century ago. Japanese man Shozaburo Shimano founded a new company called Shimano Iron Works. His innovations from that first company still impact our lives today as they introduced the world to the freewheel.

The innovations didn’t stop with the freewheel. In the mid-1950s, Shimano gave the world the first external gear shifter, now called a derailleur. This was the start of a series of innovations that led to automatic shifting. That innovation has continued all the way up through the current era of electric bikes.

In 1965 Shimano opened its first headquarters outside of Japan in New York City. Shimano now has headquarters worldwide on almost every continent. And with a widespread global network of dealers, you can quickly find support for your Shimano-equipped e-bike.

Since the early 1970s, Shimano has been introducing technological advancements developed for pro cyclists down to all their retail sales for all bike and e-bike enthusiasts. Any Shimano-equipped e-bike we’ve reviewed are always innovative and often the first of their kind. Their ten motors are evidence of the ingenuity and versatility they bring to the eBike market.
