Rad Power Bikes RadRunner 2 Review 2024

November 21, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Summary Rad Power Bikes RadRunner 2 Electric Bike

Overall Rating:

4.5
Check Latest PriceRad Power Bikes RadRunner 2 Electric Bike

Pros

  • Rad’s reputation for delivering bang-for-your-buck performance is as true as ever on the RadRunner 2
  • Has a carrying capacity of 300 lbs.
  • Terrific step-thru design has a standover height of just 16.5 in.
  • Has more than a dozen different accessories to customize it
  • 3.3-in.-wide tires offer a cushy experience
  • Motorcycle-style kickstand keeps bike stable and makes loading cargo easy

Cons

  • Single-speed drivetrain will be somewhat limiting if you frequently navigate very steep hills
  • Saddle tilt cannot be adjusted

Rad Power Bikes RadRunner 2 Review: Intro Not all e-cargo bikes have to be longtail as you’ll soon learn in this Rad Power Bike RadRunner 2 review. Electric cargo bikes have a reputation for being long, longer than a Lord of the Rings movie. While an e-bike with a long wheelbase can be handy for […]

Lectric XP 3.0 Review 2024 | Amazing Value From An All-Around Folder

November 21, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Summary Lectric XP 3.0 Electric Bike

Overall Rating:

4.8
Check Latest PriceLectric XP 3.0 Electric Bike

Pros

  • The XP 3.0 is an upgrade over the XP 2.0 in nearly every way
  • The new motor is still 500W nominally, but now peaks at 1000W instead of 850W and it produces 55Nm of torque rather than 35NM
  • Thanks to a new set of cogs in the rear, reaching 20 mph is much easier
  • A switch from 160mm rotors to 180mm rotors improves braking performance noticeably
  • The suspension fork’s travel increased by 25 percent, from 40mm to 50mm for greater comfort
  • The rear rack can now handle 150 lbs., enough to be able to support a passenger

Cons

  • We still wish the key didn’t need to be inserted in order to ride the bike
  • The new grips are better than the old ones, but not by much
  • We wish the display would give battery charge by percentage

Intro The Lectric XP 3.0 is the follow-up to the immensely popular XP 2.0, which changed how people see the folding e-bike. Rather than being viewed as a special-purpose e-bike intended for people short on storage space, the XP 2.0 found its niche as a great e-bike that is easier to put away than one […]

Blix Vika+ Flex Review – 2024

November 21, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Summary Blix Vika+ Flex Electric Bike

Overall Rating:

4.5
Check Latest PriceBlix Vika+ Flex Electric Bike

Pros

  • Folds up into a compact package for easy storage
  • 500W hub motor provides plenty of power to accelerate up to cruising speed and to get over hills
  • 7-speed Shimano drivetrain for more gear choice and a lower gear for climbing
  • Comes in both a traditional frame and a step-thru frame to fit a broader range of riders
  • Large LCD display that is easy to read on bumpy roads

Cons

  • Kickstands and fenders tend to rattle when riding rough roads and trails
  • Bikes with 20-in. wheels can be a bit nervous at higher speeds

Blix Vika+ Flex Review: Intro Folding e-bikes are on the rise and few manage to bear the label of “light”. This Blix Vika+ Flex review is of a bike that actually fits that mold. A folding bike is an unusual sort of bike because it makes the ease of the bike’s storage one of its […]

Lectric XP Lite Review – 2024

November 21, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Summary Lectric XP Lite Electric Bike

Overall Rating:

4.9
Check Latest PriceLectric XP Lite Electric Bike

Pros

  • One of the most affordable e-bikes on the market
  • At 46 lbs., the XP Lite is relatively light and will be easier for many people to carry and put away.
  • As a Class 2 e-bike it has a very manageable top speed of 20 mph plus a thumb throttle to rescue tired legs
  • 374Wh battery offers up to 40 mi. range per charge according to the web site
  • Lectric offers a broad array of accessories like racks, baskets and panniers

Cons

  • With only one speed and a cadence sensor, that first pedal stroke requires a bit of effort
  • Is likely to struggle on steeper hills with some riders

Lectric Bikes XP Lite Review: Intro Of the many e-bike brands we review, one of the brands that most consistently impresses us is Lectric Bikes. They have consistently delivered quality e-bikes that don’t cost an arm and both legs. Lectric has introduced a new model, the XP Lite that takes their ultra-popular XP 2.0 and […]

Aventon Level 2 vs Ride1UP 700

November 20, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Intro No segment of the e-bike market features more competition than the commuter segment. With so many brands vying for the attention of shoppers, every manufacturer out there is trying to maximize value for the consumer. In a way, that’s both good news and bad news. It’s good news because the buyer’s dollar has never […]

Aventon Pace 500.3 Review 2024

November 20, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Overall Rating:

4.8
Check Latest Price

Pros

  • At just 52 lbs., this e-bike is lighter than most in its price range, making it easier to handle, as well as to store
  • 500W brushless, geared hub motor offers the power necessary to deliver riders to Class 3 speeds, cutting commute times
  • 614Wh battery provides excellent range; Aventon estimates 60 mi. per charge
  • 8-speed Shimano drivetrain offers a wider gear range, better shifter and one more gear than most competitive e-bikes
  • Thanks to a torque sensor the Pace 500.3’s hub motor is more responsive than those on e-bikes equipped with cadence sensors
  • Aventon’s smartphone app gives riders additional control over the motor’s operation, including the ability to unlock the motor for Class 3 speeds

Cons

  • Some shoppers will be disappointed that Aventon didn’t include fenders and a rear rack
  • A slightly wider tire would improve rider comfort and traction in turns and when braking

Intro The commuter e-bike is like the four-door sedan of the e-bike world. They come in many shapes and sizes and with a variety of different priorities. It’s fair to say that the commuter e-bike is no one particular thing. With the Aventon Pace 500.3 we have a relatively light e-bike that gives riders a […]

Aventon Level 2 ST Review 2024

November 20, 2023 By Michael Clark Leave a Comment

Overall Rating:

4.8
Check Latest Price

Pros

  • This is a ready-to-go all-season, all-weather commuter with everything a rider needs save panniers or a backpack.
  • Thanks to its 750W brushless, geared hub motor, this e-bike is quick to accelerate and if unlocked, can deliver its rider to Class 3 speeds
  • The Level.2 features a torque sensor to give riders more immediate acceleration as well as making the motor responsive to the rider’s pedaling
  • Comes in both a traditional frame and a step-thru frame and both frames come in two sizes which will cover a broad range of rider heights for better-than-usual fit
  • We don’t often see 8-speed drivetrains on e-bikes in this price range and appreciate the wide range of gears as well as the easy-to-use trigger shifter
  • Aventon’s smartphone app gives riders the ability to adjust the motor’s performance, track their rides using GPS and connect with other Aventon owners

Cons

  • We think most commuters would prefer a handlebar with more sweep so that they can sit more upright
  • Riders looking for maximum warp on the throttle might be disappointed with its speed

Intro When buying a commuter e-bike, there are a couple of different strategies for how to narrow the field. Of course, someone could choose to look for the kind of the hill, the best-made and equipped commuter on the market. Most of us don’t have money to burn, so we tend to either focus on […]

  • 500W brushless, geared hub motor produces 65Nm of torque gives great performance while keeping weight down
  • 706Wh battery is estimated to offer riders up to 60 mi. of riding per charge
  • At 60 lbs., this is relatively light for a commuter e-bike
  • Acceleration is immediate and proportional to the rider’s effort thanks to a torque sensor
  • Comes in three different frame to better fit buyers

Cons

  • We’d love to see a wider-range cassette to give riders more help on the hills
  • The copy on their website is poorly enough written as to be confusing
Mokwheel Asphalt Review 2023

Intro Commuter e-bikes are to the e-bike world what four-door sedans are to the car world. Every company makes at least one and they serve with terrific versatility and are more economic than many other options. Mokwheel has made a name for themselves for their fat-tire e-bikes, so the Asphalt is a departure for them. […]

4.8
Check Latest PriceRide1UP Rift Electric Bike

Pros

  • Powerful 750W brushless, geared hub motor produces a very muscular 95Nm of torque for impressive off-road performance
  • 960Wh battery should take care of anyone’s range anxiety; Ride1UP estimates a range of up to 60 mi.
  • 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes paired with 180mm rotors give riders terrific control, and will allow anyone confidence on downhills
  • Rear rack is integrated into the frame, making it stronger than most, which is why it can carry up to 150 lbs.
  • Comes in both a traditional frame and a step-thru version to fit a range a riders
  • 120mm-travel air-spring fork gives riders a better ride than most of the suspension forks we see on e-bikes in this price range

Cons

  • We would prefer the PAS selector and the display be two separate units so that the display can be mounted at the stem; reading a display mounted near the brake lever while riding on bumpy ground can be very difficult
  • At 84.5 lbs., the Rift may be difficult for smaller riders to manage
Ride1UP Rift 2023

Intro Fat-tire e-bikes present an exciting opportunity for riders. While they can serve as comfy commuters and make for a fun way to get outside, they offer riders a chance to explore the backcountry and go places that would be hard to reach by any other method. The Ride1UP Rift is an affordable fat-tire e-bike […]

Cons

  • At 79 lbs., the Scoria is on the heavy side and may be harder for smaller riders to handle
  • People at the edges of their sizing range (5 feet 0 to 6 feet 2), may struggle to be comfortable on this e-bike, especially smaller riders
Mokwheel Scoria 2023

Intro An e-bike is a great way to get stuff done. As errand-runners, they can be handy for their nimble handling, making them easy to get into and out of shopping centers and strip malls. They are easy to park and lock, and with a good rack or basket, they can carry everything from several […]
